Hi All,
So while Ethan was in having his surgery they told us that they were going to do Caleb next. A surprise to be sure, but we were actually relieved to have it all done on the same day. Plus it meant that Caleb's infection was gone.
Ethan's surgery was finished a little before 9am and Caleb's was finished a little before 10am. They were both back in their normal bed areas before 11am. The cardiologist said that both surgeries went well and there were no complications. Both boys were recovering from the anesthesia and receiving morphine for the pain yesterday, so they were not very active. They should be weened off of all that in the next day or so and then the doctors say that we could see some fairly rapid improvement.
This surgery will help them develop faster because their heart and body will now work correctly. When the PDA's were open, the boys had to do more work and spend more energy breathing, so that should now be fixed. We are all looking forward to some strong progress over the next couple of weeks.
Thanks everyone for your prayers! Keep it going! The boys are one month old today! We'll hopefully be posting some more pictures in the next couple of days.
