Last night, just as we were about to leave after seeing the boys, Caleb started desaturating. This has something to do with their breathing and it's common for preeemie's to have "spells" where the level drops for a short period of time. With Caleb last night, however, his level stayed low for a long period of time. They tried taking him off of his ventilator and put him on a new one, but that didn't help and he started having very small seizures. After a while, they were finally able to stablilize him again and gave him medicine to slow/stop the seizures.
Once he was stabilized, they wanted to check his brain to see if their was any bleeding. So after we left, they did a CT scan on him and it came back normal, which is really good news! They are going to put him through some more tests today to determine the cause of what happened last night. Right now, the doctor seems to think that it could be due to his heart murmer, but they won't know for sure until more testing is done.
They said he is more active now and is not desaturating like he did any more. We pray that the docs will be able to determine the cause of what happened and be able to fix it quickly. And we pray for Caleb to continue getting stronger, getting bigger, developing, and that he quickly overcomes whatever happened to him last night.
We will keep you all posted.
