Welcome

Hello Out There,

Our family has had a busy couple of weeks and there are a lot of kind, generous, and caring people that have helped us get through it all. We have been getting inundated with phone calls for updates in recent days and are struggling to keep everyone informed. So we are hoping that this blog will help keep everyone up to speed with what is going on in our family.

Here is a brief recap of what has happened so far:

-On February 24, 2010 at about 2:30am, our triplet babies were born. Ethan, Tyler, and Caleb were at 25 weeks gestation when they arrived. Each weighed between 1.5 and 2 pounds and was about 12 inches long. Ethan and Tyler are identical twins. The boys were immediately taken down to the NICU after birth to be cared for because they arrived so early and were so fragile.

-On February 26, 2010 we lost baby Tyler. He was not meant long for this world, but he gave us two wonderful days and we miss him dearly. We are currently planning how we are going to remember him and we know that he will be watching over us and his brothers. We are still trying to find a balance between grieving the loss of Tyler and being supportive and uplifting for Ethan and Caleb. We are getting better as each day passes, but Tyler will always be a major part of this family and will always be missed.

Today is the one week birthday for Ethan and Caleb! They are both currently doing as well as can be expected for babies as premature as they were. Both are pooping and peeing (a big step!) and were weighed last night for the first time since they were born. We were told to expect them to have lost weight because they would lose water, but Caleb actually gained 10 grams (one-third of an ounce). We have not received Ethan's results yet.

We have been told that if all goes well, we will be able to bring Ethan and Caleb home sometime around their original due date (June 9th). Each day that goes by is a big step for them and they need to continue to grow and get stronger.

We want to thank each and every one of you who has supported us and kept us in prayer with all that has gone on in the past two weeks. We aplogize if we have not been able to personally thank you yet. Please continue to pray for us, especially the boys. Pray for their strength, health, and development.

We will do our best to keep you informed through this blog with how everyone is doing (and hopefully add some pictures soon).
